Role :
The Project Sales Manager is responsible for managing and driving sales specifically focused on large-scale projects. This role involves identifying project opportunities, developing relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring the successful acquisition and execution of contracts. The Project Sales Manager must have a deep understanding of the steel industry, project management principles, and the ability to navigate complex sales cycles.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Identification and Acquisition:
- Identify and target large-scale projects that require steel products, including infrastructure, construction, and industrial projects.
- Develop and maintain relationships with project stakeholders, including developers, contractors, architects, and engineers.
- Present and promote the company’s steel products and solutions to project decision-makers.
Sales Strategy Development:
- Develop and execute sales strategies tailored to project-based sales, aligning with the company’s overall sales goals.
- Analyze project requirements and provide customized solutions to meet client needs.
- Negotiate project contracts, terms, and pricing to secure profitable deals.
Project Coordination and Management:
- Collaborate with the internal project management team to ensure smooth execution of projects from inception to completion.
- Monitor project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring that client expectations are met.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients to foster repeat business and referrals.
- Provide ongoing support and follow-up with clients to ensure satisfaction and address any issues that arise.
- Manage client communications and reporting, keeping them informed of project progress.
Market Research and Analysis:
- Conduct market research to identify upcoming projects and industry trends that could impact sales opportunities.
- Stay informed about competitors’ activities and market developments that may influence project sales.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on market analysis.
Team Collaboration and Leadership:
- Work closely with the sales team, project managers, engineers, and other departments to ensure alignment on project goals and execution.
- Provide guidance and support to junior sales team members working on project-based sales.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to ensure project alignment with overall business objectives.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure all project sales activities comply with industry regulations and company policies.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with project sales, including financial, legal, and operational risks.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, certifications, and compliance requirements.
Industry Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of the steel industry, including the various types of steel products and their applications in different projects.
- Familiarity with the construction, infrastructure, and industrial sectors where steel is extensively used.
Project Sales Expertise:
- Proven experience in project-based sales, with a track record of successfully securing large contracts.
- Strong understanding of project management principles and the ability to work effectively within a project framework.
- Experience in contract negotiation and management, particularly for large-scale projects.
Relationship Management:
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and persuade decision-makers.
Analytical and Strategic Thinking:
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess project needs and develop customized sales strategies.
- Ability to think strategically and anticipate market trends and project opportunities.
Technical Proficiency:
- Proficiency in project management software, CRM tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Understanding of technical specifications and requirements related to steel products.
Leadership and Teamwork:
- Experience leading or collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
- Ability to mentor and guide junior sales team members in project sales activities.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
